Earth Day Events in the Presbytery

Earth Day is Tuesday April 22.  Several PTCA churches are hosting events that remind us to treat gently on God's creation:

• April 20-“Shrinking Your Eco Footprint: Faith, Food, Fuel and Family,” 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Apostles, 701 E. 130 St.,Burnsville. This family event, combined with an intergenerational worship service and educational experience, will feature music, a game show, and information booths on recycling, green gardening and free tree seedlings. Farmer Terry VanDerPol from the Community Supported Agriculture will speak and the PCA youth will prepare and serve a meal made from locally grown products.

• April 20-Earth Day Worship Service @ Cherokee Park The children and youth will lead an Earth-themed worship service at , Cherokee Park United Church, 371 W. Baker St., St. Paul. Through story, liturgy and song the congregation will be engaged with the rich connections of faith and care for creation. Worship starts at 10:15am.

• April 20- Special Earth Day Worship @ Oak Grove Oak Grove Presbyterian in Bloomington will focus on Earth Day at its 8:15 and 10:30am services. The church is located at 2200 W. Old Shakopee Road. For more information, contact the church.

• April 22-"The Great Warming:" Film @ Lake Nokomis Called the best film about global warming ever produced, this film examines the evidence that human activities are causing an unprecedented time of atmospheric warming and climatic events. The film also looks at initiatives aimed at reversing the trend as well as scenes documenting the emerging voice of the faith community in urging action on climate change. The screening will take place at Lake Nokomis Presbyterian, 1620 E. 46th Street in Minneapolis. Adminission is free.
